Fendi Men's SS24
At Florence's Pitti Uomo event, Fendi welcomed attendees into its newly established factory, setting the stage for creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi to unveil the Spring/Summer 2024 collection inspired by the skilled artisans working there. Amidst the lively chatter of the guests, the diligent craftspeople of the Italian fashion house busily measured fabrics, treated leathers, and swiftly sewed garments just moments before the show commenced. This showcased that Fendi's relentless dedication to their craft never wavers.
The collection drew inspiration from the individuals who contribute to the label, whether factory workers, designers, or business professionals. The initial looks demonstrated Fendi's affinity for utility by combining functional leather belts and toolbox-inspired bags with straight, pleated dress pants, button-down tops, and ties. This juxtaposition of workwear and formalwear provided a refreshing interpretation of traditional menswear archetypes, effectively capturing the multifaceted nature of Fendi as a company.
Denim and leather aprons draped over lightweight mesh tops and collared shirts, while oversized separates took centre stage, including painter's shirts, leather jackets, and relaxed trousers. Eggshell-hued workwear jackets, button-ups, and shorts showcased Fendi's meticulous attention to intricate tailoring, with dark linings offering a glimpse of the precise stitching required for their construction. The suiting remained minimalist, prioritising clean lines, pointed lapels, sharp collars, concealed buttons, and accurate folds to convey their expert craftsmanship.
Unique accessories included a monogram-covered coffee holder, perfect for a crucial boardroom meeting, and a hyper-realistic, logo-clad tool belt, complete with fashionable gadgets for the style-conscious contractor. Footwear showcased a diverse range of rubbery clogs available in eye-catching colours.
The final looks paid homage to the factory setting with trench coats, sleeveless blazers, shorts, and trousers adorned with dotted-line graphics reminiscent of a craftsperson's initial blueprints. In a fitting conclusion, Silvia Venturini Fendi emerged onto the runway alongside the esteemed House factory workers, taking a final bow in unison.
